I wrote some of these songs years ago but dealing with chronic illness really shifted my days around. I recorded the vocals for this album alongside the Christmas album Tinsel and Holly. I began to learn about producing, plug ins, filters, hundreds of different specialty mics, and more. It was a riot. I did the original recordings of all these songs through a vocoder which was such a fun expression. I re-recorded some of them through vintage mics and more to bring a little more warmth to the art.
Return to Eden was written for my great niece, Eden. She has a very special puppy that I was able to communicate with and this song is the story of that and how he needed to find her in this lifetime. Souls are a magnificent thing.
Just Drive, the title track, came out of my longing for simpler times. Like I knew back when I was in my later teens and early college era.
This album is very special to me. It was the start of me coming back to life from literal near death and in all ways, ME!
