John Prine // Words to Melody

Posted by admin Category: Category 1

For whatever reason ‘Paradise’ was the first song the universe brought me. I was a bit late to the party of Prine and no self respecting songwriter should ever admit that. It was ‘90 or ‘91 maybe. I knew then I was hearing a deeper soul and storyteller than what I was used to. Thanks for all the amazing, heartfelt affirmations of the gratitude and grief of life brother, John. I’m already grieving that we’ll have to do this again next year and the year after and… Tell ’em all hello from all of us down here. Thanks for the decades of inspiration – putting words to melody like only you could.

When I die let my ashes float down the Green River
Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam
I’ll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin’
Just five miles away from wherever I am.
